I love these photos. So full of energy and positive vibes. I really like the detail photo with the arm and the drums and would loved to see more of those. I hope you 'll share the other sessions with the other band members too!
Thank you Susanne. Funny you mentioned it, that drum picture is extremely popular... it's one of those images where I'm surprised, almost shocked at the universal response. I like the image, but I had no idea it would resonate as it does. I still don't completely understand it!
Getting feedback on our work is both precious and fascinating, so thank you for providing it. And you're absolutely in the majority on that one.
i agree with susanne on this one, really like that photo. don't know about others but to me that is the most natural, the most realistic. on all the other photos (nothing wrong with them) everything looks like a promotional photo session: photographer ask the sitter to pose; that one is not.
Maybe that's it... When I'm doing a story I follow some of the general guidelines laid out by Finn Beale, and if possible get a large scene and 1-2 detail images, so that's how the drum photo came about.
Yep, that one took several attempts... he jumped about 10 times. To get the arms and legs in the shape I wanted, against the drum kit appropriately, etc. But it worked in the end.

I think it's the intimacy I like about it. It is less staged. I think that is, why it's stands out against the others.

It looks like so much fun! The joy is contagious.
My favorite image is the one of him jumping with the drum sticks in his hand. Amazing!!

Great! Always wanted to play the drums but don't have a sense of rhythm, alas.
You should see me try to dance! Yeah, that rhythm thing...
Love, love LOVE these photos! How fun you must have had shooting them!!!
I did. It was a great start to the project.
