Fascinating geology. And love the weathered buildings. Nice shots. I’ve driven around quite a bit of the US but I’ve never been to the Dakotas and it’s on my list of places to visit someday. Thanks for the post.

If you didn't see the footnotes, Rapid City is in the center of all the photos I included this week, as well as the ones I'lll do next week. The place will be full of tourists in the summer, and it can be HOT, so if you're thinking of going, late April was excellent. probably early May is pretty darn good, too.

I had this fantasy of, when my youngest is finished with “high school” here in Norway, to go back to the old homeland (the US) and do a few months long roadtrip, covering some of the areas I haven’t been and some of the areas my kids have not been and plan accordingly to avoid the worst weather and tourists. As soon as the election results came — and with now the tariffs and immigration nightmares just bolstering my inner argument — I decided I do not want to go back to the US anytime soon so my fantasy will be put off for a time. But I will mentally note that spring is likely a good time for a visit to this region. Thank you!

The Great Plains -especially the northern part- has a special place in my heart. The vastness is just mind-blowing. Thank you for sharing.
