I have lots going on and don’t have time to write much (bonus for you!). But as a companion to the Not Missing Out post from a couple of weeks ago, here are some images of local fauna. These also help me appreciate being here, away from my longtime home in California. These shots were taken footsteps from my front door, along Goose Creek.
Beginning with cuteness
I found and photographed this family early this morning. Yes, today!
Little things
These next ones are about three inches long, head to butt. From last week. I identified them by describing the situation to claude.ai and uploading pictures. I listed the size, location, time of year, and how far they were from the water (I saw two that morning). After this first picture claude was reasonably confident but not 100% certain about the ID. The information and photo were consistent with its opinion, including the fact that I saw more than one. claude told me they were likely coming out of hibernation and heading out to find mates. But it wasn’t absolutely positive.
So I added the second image below, and claude declared it a stone-cold lock.
Editorial note: AI may be a bane for many. It may even become a threat to all of humanity over time. But at the moment, for things like this, it’s pretty handy. I’ve used AI several times to ID things.
Reptiles are also waking up
Finally, a few randomly-selected, fine, feathered friends
Returning to the last couple of weeks:
Ahhh. Being out there slows my heart rate, and has me breathing smoothly and steadily. One of life’s truly wonderful tonics.
Ommmm….
Until next time,
